Self-Portrait of An Architect: Something Inside
This project focus on translating self-portrait through architecture. Start with self-portrait, it is a trace of my formal pictures through out the years since middle school. The formal pictures in my personal point of view remind an idea of a serious, scary, and introvert as the first impression of myself.
The simple house shape reflects the idea of my external appearance which is serious, scary, and introvert. The language of it remind most of the people that it possibly be a domestic house or a barn.
It is located in a lonely empty landscape which also represents the introverted side of me. The 50 cm thick external wall mimic the thought of fortress protect inside from outside. However, a single entrance at the front leads users to five non-corner spaces inside which are the reflection of my personalities.
The first room is a dark room represent scary side. Next, there are two possibilities entering to the next spaces. First possibility is a long narrow space where it represents under-controlled or limited thought. The user will be forced to keep moving forward without acknowledging the ending point similar to life's future. Another possibility is a loud room which a light structure that covered with fabric creating sound. This room is presenter of loud speaking. After, the user will found himself in a gigantic empty white room. He will feel the emptiness and lonely. The last space is a round that full of concave mirror. The user is able to play with his/her hilarious distorted reflection since sometimes I find myself funny. At the end, He or her will discover the actual spaces as the final journey of life.
