Our workshop tasks are site survey, analysis and design.
Site Survey
For site survey, we had walk from north to south along the river to find out more about the obstacle and local transportation. Most of the locals here use motorbike to get around but in some places that they cant get through by bike, then they would walk.

These are the zoom in map of the site along the Mae Kaung river showing the obstacle blocking the motorcycle way. we were marking all the obstacle on site and also predicting the future development in each area.

The Analysis
From the first interview with the local,
this is the bridge he used everyday to cross the river and go to his fishing spot. he balances himself with the bamboo stick which later on we used this idea to develop our project.

Site analysis 1
the residential area are on the left along with the canal which soon turn into a pipe and buried under the ground. on the other side of the road there is a rice field which use advantages of the canal to transport water.

Site analysis 2
on the right of the drawing there was a private construction going on during our survey and on the left we believe there is owner yet. the section show the canal cutting through another water path that going in a perpendicular direction.

Site analysis 2.1
in addition to site analysis 2 we have draw a section of the the canal before the infrastructure.

The Design
This bridge aims to replace the existing bamboo bridge. while we are on the survey we found that bamboo is a local material as well. Therefore, this proposal we have pick bamboo to be used for contraction and to minimize the cost to the local.
perspective and elevation drawing
After our group crossed the canal bridge, we notice that it is very difficult to balance ourselves through the pathway especially Prof. Brian. Therefore by inherited the local knowledge, we use a bamboo stick to help people crossing the canal.
section-perspective drawing
we find out that there should be a walk way on the side of the road and also an area where we can watch the warm sun set over the beautiful rice field. On the second design we want to extend the walk way without disturbing the rice field so we design this elevated platform to protect it from flooding and runs over rainfall.

ps. the floor is made of weaving bamboo.
Atmosphere drawing showing the interaction between road and bamboo walk way. we also avoid cutting down a big tree by leaving a gap around the trunk.
